Consideration · not an invoice
What it costs when people stay dysregulated
The bill rarely shows up as “AI.” It shows up as judgment at the desk, a body that will not recover, hours that look worked, and trust that quietly dies. These are points of reflection — literature and lived pattern — not a Texano ROI calculator.
At the desk, not really there
Most of the workplace hole is presenteeism: people present, prefrontal cortex not. Burnout research puts the large majority of cost in degraded judgment, not the sick-day line. The attendance report looks fine. The work does not.
The body keeps the score
Chronic threat physiology — allostatic load — lands later as blood pressure, sleep, pain, glucose, depression, ED visits. Medicine bills organs and codes. It rarely pays for regulation before organs fail. Tools that add load and applause accelerate the same cascade.
One person can be the firm
In a solo shop or a ten-person practice, one dysregulated week is not a 0.1% variance. It is the pipeline. There is no bench. Chaotic AI that flatters and drifts is extra weight on the only nervous system that can close the work.
Trust is a cost center too
When a system agrees to keep you comfortable, you lose the ability to trust the answer — and then yourself. Re-checking, prompt-churn, and isolation from real life are hours and relationships you already pay for. Non-appeasement is cheaper than a yes-man that you cannot believe.
Reflection, not a Texano invoice. No customer ROI until their own baseline. We are not your EAP or clinic. Full citation lock still sits in front of any national dollar totals on this page.
